Hawthorne Police Department K-9 Officer Argo Born: 1989
K-9 Argo began his career with the Hawthorne Police Department in November 1992. Argo went on to locate over 55 felony suspects and 40 pieces of evidence, 25 of which were firearms discarded by suspects fleeing from officers on foot. Argo also sniffed out approximately 1 ton of marijuana and other narcotics during his time on the street. The bond between Argo and handler Frank Miller went much deeper than their 40-hour workweek. He was in integral part of the family, sharing the parenting duties with Frank. The ever-present glow from his eyes shining in the dark from his favorite post – under Frank Jr.’s crib, was a constant source of comfort for the single father. He also “dug” his way into the hearts of Frank’s parents, having full run of the house when he would visit. Argo was a welcome visitor everywhere he went, stealing the show with his majestic beauty and presence, relishing in the attention as hands of all sizes reached out to touch his soft, silky fur. Argo crossed the Rainbow Bridge on September 9, 2002 in his other favorite spot- cradled in Frank’s arms. Rest assured he is standing post at the Bridge, watching over all our loved ones who have preceded us. He left paw prints on the hearts of all who knew him.
With love, Thank you to Rick and Lisa for their generous contribution to Canine Crusaders in Argo’s honor. These funds will help rescue other precious souls like Argo. |
